My name is Oliver Ody, I am a personal trainer and sports massage therapist based in Eastbourne, East Sussex. I graduated from the University of Brighton with MSc Applied Exercise Physiology and BSc Sports Science degrees. During my degrees I focussed on physiology and strength and conditioning which led me to work with elite level athletes, providing research and scientific reports to professional sports clubs as part of my studies. Many of the players from Sussex County Cricket Club thanked me for my research report on ice baths which meant that they were no longer compulsory for them!
Straight after university in 2011 I set up my own personal training business and things have developed from there. I have worked with a broad spectrum of clientele ranging from national champions and elite athletes, pre and post-operative prehab/rehab clients, elderly and sedentary clients as well as clients with special needs.
I wanted to expand my knowledge and skillset so in 2014 I completed my sports massage qualification which tied in nicely with my PT business. This presented me with the opportunity to work in international sport providing treatment to the players of the Samoan rugby team during the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
I learned to integrate my knowledge from each field to benefit the results of both. Since then I have been taking a variety of courses to enhance my manual therapy skills and knowledge so I am able to provide a top tier service to anyone who sees me. I find each field as interesting as the other, it helps to keep me fresh and motivated in learning and continuing my career. I will always aim to improve and use my collective knowledge to keep my clients fit, healthy and pain free.
I have always been involved in sports and fitness from a young age; I represented my school in nearly every sport and went on to play county cricket for Sussex as a youth. I still play a number of sports and I’m out on my mountain bike as much as I can! Alongside sport there is always injuries and I have had a fair amount! However, with injury comes the silver lining of gaining experience with how to treat physically and how to manage them mentally. Sport and exercise have always been my main passion in life, so to develop my career in it seemed the right choice. I enjoy helping others improve themselves and take great pride whitnessing clients reach their goals and achieve what they desire.
I hope that I can help you to achieve your goals in some way too!
